Multimodal Exhibitors Offer Wide Range of Services

 29th March 2011

The range of exhibitors at Multimodal 2011 – the UK’s only annual event focused on the transport and logistics industries – is now wider than ever before, and represents a true cross-section of the global transport and logistics industry.

The spread of  exhibitors taking stands at this year’s Multimodal which takes place at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre on April 5-7 includes shipping lines, airlines, airports, seaports, rail freight terminals and companies, terminal operating companies, road haulage operators, forwarders, IT/information suppliers, Government bodies and other associations, multimodal equipment suppliers, 3PLs and warehousing & transport companies.

Amongst the exhibitors this year is one of the UK’s leading specialist distribution and logistics operators Bishopsgate, who will be exhibiting one of the products they now move on a regular basis – the latest “real coffee” vending machines manufactured by Tchibo, who have chosen Bishopsgate to deliver and install the machines to Total’s UK petrol station network.

New technology for warehouse management will be represented at Multimodal 2011 by Yorkshire–based Delta Software, one of the UK’s fastest-growing suppliers of interactive warehouse management systems. They will be demonstrating their new “DeltaDashboard” supply chain performance, warehouse process improvement software. DeltaDashboard provides easy-to-read, highly graphical KPI displays in real time and can be used with any supply chain or warehouse management system. They will also have on show the latest version of their DeltaWMS flagship warehouse management system, suitable for all warehouse operations.

Amongst industry bodies exhibiting at the event are The Logistics Leaders Network, who will be holding a Supply Chain Strategy Meeting on 5 April and a Road Freight Leasers Forum meeting on 6 April on their stand. The first meeting will concentrate on maintaining efficient supply chains in Russia and Eastern Europe, featuring a panel discussion with John Harvey CBE, Chairman of Keswick Enterprises, David Goldsborough CEO of Tibbett Logistics SRL (Bucharest) and Jeremy Davidson Deputy Managing Director NYK Group. The second meeting will look at the role and responsibilities of the Transport Manager. Gary Hodgson, Partner at leading transport lawyers, Ford and Warren will draw on his experience of defending hauliers and transport managers in order to raise awareness of potential risk areas.

And finally, one exhibitor will be using Multimodal 2011 to promote their own exhibition later in the year. Totally Logistics North is a new exhibition that aims to put suppliers of the complete range of logistics products, systems and services face-to-face with senior supply chain professionals responsible for making the key buying decisions.

The event, to be held on 28-29 September 2011 at Doncaster Racecourse, is being organised by Richard Milbourn, founder partner of Logistics Manager magazine and the Logistics Link series of exhibitions. Doncaster was selected to host the event as it is the logistics capital of the North. “But,” according to Milbourn, “one of the key motivating factors to the success of the launch is that the exhibition is being held in one of the best state-of-the art exhibition and conference facilities in the North of England, a region that has been overlooked in recent times.”

About Multimodal:

Taking place from 5th to 7th April 2011 at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Multimodal aims to attract a large group of exhibitors and visitors from across the whole spectrum of freight transport, logistics and supply chain service providers than it ever has before.

Multimodal 2011 is the only UK event that brings together all sectors of freight transport under a single roof.  The Seminars and Briefings which are an integral part of the event, have scheduled an enlightening and thought-provoking range of topics, tackled in an interactive fashion by panels of experts or as briefings presented by representatives from centres of excellence. Topics range from insight into the media, customs, container shipping trends, container swaps, security, reducing empty loads and ports’ role in adding value, to e-sourcing, collaborative logistics, supply chain optimisation, key performance indices (KPIs) and logistics data analytics.
