Geodis Wilson, one of the world’s leading freight management companies, launched its internal innovation campaign in 2011. Now being presented for the third time, the initiative is designed to encourage the creative potential of its employees worldwide. The winners of this year’s “Innovation Masters Award” (IMA) were announced at a ceremony in Bangkok on 5th of February.

The awards, honouring the winners for outstanding internal innovative initiatives, were presented to two individuals and a small team of innovators. The winners, who received their awards from Kim Pedersen, Executive Vice President, Geodis Wilson, at the IMA Ceremony, are:

Susanna Vallejo from Spain for her CSR related project entitled ‘Citizens of the World’ to foster international mobility within the company.

Cherian George from Australia for his project entitled ‘Global Office Ranking’ to increase efficiency and to foster a performance culture.

Anders Wennberg from Sweden, Nicolas Chaze and Ludovic Vergin (both from France) for their project entitled ‘Check ‘n’ Amend Tool’ that aims at improving data quality internally as well as for the customers.

The Award attracted over 250 entries from Geodis Wilson employees and the merits of each were considered by regional judging panels. Once a short-list had been drawn up the final panel of judges, compiled of board members, selected the winners of the “Innovation Masters Award” for 2015.

“The IMA-program is a product of Geodis Wilson’s corporate philosophy, which includes a commitment to become the leading innovator in the freight forwarding industry”, says Kim Pedersen. “Employee engagement is crucial to the success of this aim and we are justly proud of the standard of entries for the Award and of our dedicated employees, award-winners or not.  They are all pivotal in delivering top-class customer service.”

The main priorities of the new National Sales Manager will be to strengthen and increase the company’s trade lane activities, particularly with a focus on Brazil, China and the USA, and to expand the business in key market segments such as Fashion, Retail, Industrial, Automotive, Hi-tech and Pharma.

Martijn has been associated with Geodis since 2006, and in his previous roles has played an important part in driving key strategies for business development in the organisation. He brings more than 14 years’ of experience in the industry. The Cluster Managing Director for Geodis in South Asia, Leif Voelcker, welcomes this new appointment:  “We are certain that Martijn’s experience and knowledge of the industry will be a key advantage for us in India’s fast growing and demanding market.”

Appointment – Thomas Kraus joins Geodis as Group Marketing Director

Since the 1st of January 2015, Thomas Kraus heads the Group Marketing at Geodis.

Thomas Kraus, 48 years, formerly CEO of TNT Express in Germany, is in charge of developing a cohesive and differentiating marketing strategy for Geodis, incorporating the full range of the Group’s know-how. He will also run the marketing community at Geodis.

Thomas Kraus, who hails from Germany, has held various positions within TNT, including Marketing Director in 1990, Customer Service Director in 1992, Managing Director of the Sales, Marketing & Customer Service in 2006 and CEO of TNT Innight from the same year. In his 24 years within the transport and logistics sector he has gathered experience in designing, developing and deploying sales and marketing strategy as well as being at the helm of sizable business units – most recently being CEO of TNT Express Germany for a period of six years.

Geodis Wilson Opens New Logistics Hubs to Service Global Oil & Gas Industry

Houston, 17 November 2014

Geodis Wilson, the global freight management and logistics provider, has announced the expansion of its global network of operating hubs dedicated to the sector, thus underlining its on-going commitment to the logistics demands of the Oil & Gas industry. In addition to existing hubs in Houston and Vitrolles (near Marseille), the company has just opened a third hub in Singapore. Two more, in Antwerp and Dubai, will be online by the end of the year and a further two are planned for 2015. The development is in line with Geodis Wilson’s strategic growth plan in its Industrial Projects division for the burgeoning Oil & Gas sector, where it plans to increase freight volumes by 50% within a year after opening the new hubs.

From its headquarters and primary Oil & Gas hub in Houston (established in 2009) the Company has developed its network of operational centres across the globe. The new hub in Singapore is strategically located to service the Oil & Gas clusters in Southeast Asia. The North African region is served through its Vitrolles hub in the South of France. The upcoming centre in Antwerp will serve North Sea activities, Eastern Europe and Africa, while Dubai will become Geodis Wilson’s Oil & Gas hub for the Middle East and Indian sub-continent.

In 2015, the company plans to expand into China and South Africa with the launch of additional hubs.

Geodis Wilson Awarded “Airfreight Forwarder of the Year”

Geodis Wilson, the international freight management and logistics provider, has been awarded Airfreight Forwarder of the Year 2014 at the global World Air Cargo Awards Ceremony in Shanghai.

Geodis Wilson celebrated its third win after 2010 and 2011 at the prestigious Air Cargo Awards, hosted by leading global publication in the sector, Air Cargo Week. Voted for by airfreight service users around the world the annual awards celebrate excellence and achievement
