Freight Management specialist Geodis Wilson has announced the appointment of Dean Devasia as Global Chief Information Officer (CIO). He will also join the Freight Management Board. This appointment will further strengthen the international outlook of the board and bring renewed focus on harnessing technology to deliver global strategic objectives.

Dean Devasia moved into his new role of Global CIO, and member of the Freight Management Board, on 1^st December 2013 from his most recent position as CIO for the US and acting regional CIO for the Americas Region.

He joined Geodis in 1991 and has held a wide variety of positions in operations, sales, branch and regional management, and latterly IT. He brings to his new role consummate business and technical skills, a strong track record in change and transformation, and wide-ranging knowledge of the GW operations, organization and IT infrastructure.

Freight Management specialist, Geodis Wilson has announced the appointment of Igor Muñiz as Competence Head for Industrial Projects (IP) in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. This strategically important role will significantly enhance Geodis Wilson’s IP team in the region, where market growth is marked, and strengthen the Company’s offering of tailored logistics services.

Igor Muñiz will be based in Singapore from where he will spearhead Geodis Wilson’s IP freight management and logistics operations in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the industry and joined the Geodis Group in 2008 as Industrial Projects Director for Spain and Portugal. Based on his thorough expertise in European and Latin American markets, Muñiz has driven business development for Geodis Wilson in the region, leading a range of successful projects in key strategic segments such as oil & gas, power, mining, rail and renewable energy.

Geodis Wilson is internationally known for its strong footprint in the Industrial Projects business, particularly in the oil & gas markets. Recently the company signed a €34 million contract with Canadian based Caracal Energy Inc., which has a leading international role in the exploration and development of oil and gas fields

Global freight management company, Geodis Wilson, is continuing to grow its Middle East network and has announced the appointment of Sascha Geiken as new Cluster Managing Director for the Middle East region.

Sascha Geiken joined Geodis Wilson in 2009 as Managing Director of Geodis Wilson United Arab Emirates.  In his new position as Cluster Managing Director, he will be responsible UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The Industrial Projects division of international freight forwarder Geodis Wilson secured a new 3-year contract with Caracal Energy Inc. (“Caracal Energy”), an international player in the exploration and development of oil and gas fields.

Caracal Energy has chosen Geodis Wilson as its logistics partner for the exploration of a new resource field in Chad, the company’s primary market. The deal includes global freight forwarding activities by air and sea, planning and execution of inland logistics, customs clearance, as well as rail and road transportation through Chad and Cameroon. The contract is worth 34 million Euros, with an option to extend for an additional 2 years.

Looking forward to his new role of developing Geodis Wilson’s business in one of Asia’s most dynamic economical hubs, Rene says, “The South East Asia market—Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam—is certainly often overlooked as a growth area because of its modest size compared to the biggest players China and India. However, from a global perspective, it is actually a key area. It has weathered the global recession well and is experiencing rapid growth. I am confident that we can take advantage of this growth and our broad service offering tobecome a key player in this region.”
